Who else loves coffee beer?!
I absolutely love it – so much that if I’m ever at a brewery and they have a coffee beer, I get it no questions asked.
During quarantine, we’ve been drinking a bit more than usual (who isn’t?).
But when we realized that we didn’t have any coffee beer, we had no choice but to make our own (b/c who wants to go to the store more than once a week right now).
Here’s what we used:
- Dry Dock Vanilla Porter (I’d say you can use any porter or stout)
- Instant Coffee
- Water
& here’s how we made it:
- First thing’s first: you gotta make your coffee – and make it STRONG. So scoop 3 tablespoons of instant coffee in a cup, along with 3 tablespoons of water & heat it up in a microwave for ~20 seconds to mix together
- Once well mixed, put the coffee in the freezer for ~5 minutes (so it doesn’t warm your beer)
- Once cooled, remove the coffee from the fridge and pour your beer over it
- Drink up!
The vanilla porter & the coffee mixed so perfectly together, I literally felt like I was just drinking a really great coffee beer.
I do wonder what it would taste like if your mixed the coffee with something other than a stout or a porter…how ’bout a coffee IPA?
Let me know what you use when you give it a try!
